Save the Date : the 2016 edition of the EAHSA’s (European Association of Home and Services for the Ageing) European conference will take place on September 22 and 23. This year’s conference is organized by EAHSA member FNAQPA.

After Malta in 2012, and Amsterdam in 2014, the conference will take place in France for the first time, at the Congress centre of the Cité Internationale of Lyon.

Thinking European and acting locally to support the elderly

For the first time, European association EAHSA elected to hold its biannual conference in France. The FNAQPA (National Federation for the Elderly’s Future and Life Quality) was in charge of organizing this year’s event “with the conviction that participants will leave the conference richer for it, and inspired by this extraordinary professional experience.

The chosen theme for this year’s conference is “Think European – Act Locally: New Business Models and Success Stories in the Provision of Care, Housing and Services for the Elderly“.

For the FNAQPA, this theme hits close to home : we know that relying solely on public funds to adapt to ageing is delusional, and that financial hardship has always impelled homes and services for the elderly to come up with ever more innovative and creative solutions”, the FNAQPA commented.

The FNAQPA’s programme features field visits, conferences, experience feedbacks and award ceremonies, with one goal in mind : developing new economic models by taking inspiration from the best experiences in Europe and beyond.

For homes and services, “acting locally” mainly means getting their hands and feet dirty every day ; the FNAQPA hopes that “Thinking European” will allow them to keep their heads in the stars, for two days at the very least.
