The Silver Citizens Summit is the congress dedicated to the place of seniors in society, intergenerational relations, the roles of town and territories, Silver Tourism, the fight against ageism, etc. A major event that will bring together all professionals of the sector, with one guiding principle: adapt society to the demographic transition.
The Silver Citizens Summit will take place during the next edition of the SilverEco & Ageing Well International Festival, on September 14 and 15, 2026 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.
How to adapt society to ageing ?

The Silver Citizens Summit is the international multidisciplinary congress dedicated to the future of our aging societies and the central place occupied by elderly citizens. This unique meeting is an opportunity for experts, policy makers, field actors and citizens of all generations to come together to envision innovative and sustainable solutions for a common healthy aging.
This summit will notably focus on the WHO’s “Age-Friendly Cities” initiative, and how such an approach can be extended to territories and “Age-friendly countries”. A section will be devoted to departmental public services for autonomy, where the idea of a one-stop shop to meet the healthy aging needs of seniors will be explored.
The concept of “Silver citizenship” will also be addressed, particularly the place of elderly citizens in European and international policies, and the consideration of population aging by companies of all kinds. A unique opportunity to understand how current policies affect the lives of older people and how they could be improved to better meet their specific needs.
The Silver Citizens Summit will give voice to the younger generation, with feedback on intergenerational issues. Another major theme on the program: “Age friendly employers” and the impact of population aging on the world of work.
The urgency to act — now
In the face of the unprecedented acceleration of population ageing, inaction is no longer an option. Demographic, social and economic transformations are already underway, and their effects are being felt across society — from employment and social cohesion to access to services, territorial planning and even citizenship itself.
It is now urgent to move from observation to concrete decisions: adapting public policies, transforming organisations, rethinking the role of businesses and fully recognising older adults as essential contributors to society. The Silver Citizens Summit is firmly anchored in this sense of collective urgency. By calling for immediate and coordinated action from all stakeholders to combat ageism, it strengthens intergenerational inclusion and helps build, starting today, a society truly prepared for healthy ageing.
The Silver Citizens Summit, is also a dedicated SilverEco & Ageing Well Award, an exhibition tour inside the festival, reserved networking sessions, etc.
