Social-Ability is a British social enterprise that is transforming the daily lives of people living with cognitive or physical disabilities through its innovative Happiness Programme initiative. This project was awarded the Fight Against Isolation prize at the SilverEco Ageing Well Awards 2024.
We are a social enterprise, with one mission, which is to reach the most isolated people in society through our technology. What I love about our technology is not the tech itself — it’s actually about holding hands, singing songs, making eye contact with each other, and the technology just facilitates those relationships.

Social Ability: games for social interaction

Social Ability’s Happiness Programme is based on interactive light projection technology, offering playful and therapeutic activities tailored to the specific needs of nursing home residents, rehabilitation patients, people with dementia or learning disabilities.
At the heart of this program is the Magic Table 360, an interactive projector capable of projecting games and sensory experiences onto various surfaces such as tables, floors, walls or even beds. Users can interact with the projections by moving their hands, arms or feet, stimulating physical and cognitive activity while promoting social bonding.
Founded by John Ramsay, whose father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Social-Ability is driven by a deeply personal mission: to bring joy and well-being to people often isolated by their health conditions. The company doesn’t just provide technology; it also offers comprehensive support including unlimited training, dedicated technical support and customized reports to help facilities maximize the program’s impact.
