LAP PORTABLE SINK helps people with reduced mobility to look after their personal hygiene independently. It’s a way of enabling them to remain dignified and independent. This excellent solution was therefore selected to win the SilverEco & Ageing Well International Awards at SilverNight.

Inspired by a personal family experience of caring for a bedridden parent, Mélanie Berton set up her company, Lap Solution, to preserve the dignity of people who need daily assistance. To this end, she has developed a portable, user-friendly hygiene device that enables people to wash themselves independently, and in particular to wash their hands and face without the need for outside help.
Through this project, the aim is to give back autonomy to people who may feel dependent on others, even for the simplest daily tasks. Having witnessed her loved one’s total dependence on assistance prompted Mélanie Berton to create a device that could help maintain the dignity and independence of those in similar situations.
The startup’s innovative solution has already received positive feedback from users, who have reported increased satisfaction and well-being. To gain visibility, the startup has taken part in a number of competitions, enabling progress to be assessed and valuable experience to be shared.
Autonomy: Helping caregivers and patients
LAP SOLUTION aims to restore the full dignity and personal autonomy of bedridden people in situations of discomfort and suffering. Mélanie Berton and her team are aware that in such circumstances, care and attention to the individual are the fundamental basis for promoting dignity, understood as an essential element in overcoming the physical and psychological discomfort that inevitably arises during the period of suffering.
At the same time, LAP SOLUTION also pays particular attention to the well-being to the well-being of caregivers, offering them the opportunity to provide care without having to exert excessive physical effort and, at the same time, to optimize their work, considerably reducing the time required.
