Meet Daisy, a retired AI \u201cgrandmother\u201d programmed to outwit fraudsters by engaging them in endless conversations. Her mission? Waste their time and mental energy so they can\u2019t scam real victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cBecause while they\u2019re busy talking to me, they can\u2019t be scamming you\u201d<\/strong>. Here&#8217;s how <strong>Daisy<\/strong> presents her role in the <strong>fight<\/strong> <strong>against phone jammers<\/strong>. On November 15,<strong> British operator O2 <\/strong>announced the launch of its new <strong>Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>, Daisy, a touching grandmother designed to <strong>answer calls<\/strong> from <strong>phone jammers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AI Daisy<\/strong> takes on the traits (<strong>ageist stereotype?<\/strong>) of an isolated <strong>grandmother<\/strong>, who rambles, takes her time and simply seeks \u201ccompany\u201d. She takes her time, asks lots of questions, asks to repeat herself regularly, or deviates by talking about her cat or the latest knitting she&#8217;s done. <strong>But how can an AI deceive a human being to such an extent?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Daisy combines several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/south-korea-when-artificial-intelligence-calls-and-checks-on-isolated-elderly-people\/\">AI<\/a> models that work together to listen to the caller and transcribe their voice into text. Appropriate responses are then generated using a large language model\u201d. This data is then fed back to a customized AI text-to-speech model to generate a voice response\u201d, all \u201cin real time.<\/p>\n<cite>Virgin Media O2<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In the longer term, it will, according to O2,<strong><em> \u201cshed light on the techniques used by these fraudsters, helping customers to better protect themselves\u201d.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, Virgin Media O2, invites British to<strong> report scam numbers by sending them to 7726<\/strong>. By choosing a slightly \u201clost\u201d, over-talkative fake grandmother as the embodiment of the tool, <strong>the O2 operator conveys a simplistic, caricatured image of the elderly<\/strong>. While <strong>seniors<\/strong> remain the<strong> first victims<\/strong> of these scams, it is essential to <strong>step up awareness campaigns<\/strong>, <strong>improve digital suppor<\/strong>t and <strong>promote solutions<\/strong> adapted to all audiences, while <strong>breaking down stereotypes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This \u201c<strong>artistic<\/strong>\u201d choice by telephone
