{"id":32066,"date":"2022-07-22T17:49:33","date_gmt":"2022-07-22T15:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/?p=32066"},"modified":"2026-01-22T13:48:52","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T12:48:52","slug":"lottie-france-is-among-the-nations-that-live-the-longest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/lottie-france-is-among-the-nations-that-live-the-longest\/","title":{"rendered":"Lottie : France is among the nations that live the longest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The worldwide average life expectancy is 73.4 years old, however some people have the longevity to last well beyond the \u2018norm\u2019 and into centenarian (age100) status.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/lottie.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32071\" width=\"329\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/lottie.png 438w, https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/lottie-300x103.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With this in mind, Lottie, a digital marketplace that connects care seekers to the UK&#8217;s care homes, analysed the centenarian population and their percentage change over the last 20 years around the world, as well as their breakdown per gender, to find which nations have the most centenarians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nations-with-the-highest-number-of-centenarians\">Nations with the highest number of centenarians<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>France places joint ninth<\/strong> with <strong>30 centenarians for every 100,000 residents<\/strong>. Their centenarian\u00a0frequency has also risen by almost <strong>62%<\/strong> in just two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guadeloupe leads the way <\/strong>with <strong>75 centenarians per 100,000 people<\/strong>. This island boasts almost <strong>80% more centenarians than it did in 2000<\/strong>, meaning the Caribbean lifestyle of this French overseas territory appears to promote longevity like no other on the planet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>second place<\/strong> is <strong>Barbados<\/strong>. This independent British commonwealth nation has <strong>71 centenarians per 100,000<\/strong> of its population &#8211; more than a <strong>78% increase<\/strong> since 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"748\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/old-ageing-retiring1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32069\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/old-ageing-retiring1.png 748w, https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/old-ageing-retiring1-300x125.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming in <strong>third<\/strong> is a Caribbean neighbour of the top two, <strong>Martinique. <\/strong>The state whose culture is a fascinating blend of French and West Indian influences, <strong>has 63 centenarians for every 100,000 residents<\/strong>, an <strong>83% rise<\/strong> in a 20 year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In joint fourth are <strong>Uruguay and Japan<\/strong>. Both boast <strong>62 centenarians per 100,000 people<\/strong>.
