Robotic machines can <strong>enhance the quality of caregivers\u00b4work<\/strong> and possibly even substitute humans in many care provisions. Technology can also be <strong>a tool for prolonging working life by easing the physical work<\/strong>. Moreover, <strong>Information and communication technologies (ICT) <\/strong>have tremendous potential for<strong> enhancing the social inclusion and participation of older people<\/strong> through video conferencing and social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>However, technological progress also comes with a dark side<\/strong>, as older people are particularly vulnerable to phishing, internet scams or hoaxes. What is it ? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Population aging is a worldwide phenomenon that the economically developed countries have to face in particular. The trends that have been evident in Japan for more than two decades have arrived in Europe. The average life expectancy constantly grows and the number of births is below the population replacement level. In the long term <strong>this development could have negative impacts on the economies of European states as well as their societies<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/engaging-logo-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31522\" width=\"259\" height=\"65\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the (eng)aging!) project is to<strong> increase public awareness about the topic of population aging <\/strong>and to create <strong>a platform bringing together the Central European stakeholders dealing with population aging<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project organizes <strong>an annual international conference and 2-3 expert discussions per year<\/strong> on various topics related to population aging and demographic change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project succeeds to <strong>involve various stakeholders locally and internationally<\/strong> : international organizations (V4, WHO, OECD, UNECE, EU), representatives of the state administration, members of parliamentary and senate committees, entrepreneurs, representatives of business associations, experts in the field of geriatric care, representatives of the non-profit sector, academics and other subjects related to aging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international conference is also attended by similar entities from abroad. <strong>The network of the project already includes several hundred professionals<\/strong>.
