Indeed, on Saturday, Nov. 4, she has marked 60 years with the airline and industry, and her international notoriety as <strong>American\u2019s longest serving, most senior flight attendant.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"fr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">OMG, it&#8217;s a Bette Nash Jubilee. She said she fell in love with \u201c<em>the spiffy appearances and gracious manners of the crew members.\u201d<\/em> A few short years later, Bette began her own aviation career at age 21 with Eastern Airlines, which would eventually become part of today\u2019s American Airlines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bette has seen the aviation industry change dramatically over the decades.<\/strong> She began flying when Dwight Eisenhower was President, flight tickets cost just $12 and tickets required no reservation. Bette fondly remembers this era as aviation\u2019s golden age, when she flew with the Kennedys and served lobster and carved meats on platters to customers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-30467 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bette-Nash.png\" alt=\"Bette Nash\" width=\"473\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bette-Nash.png 748w, https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bette-Nash-300x125.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Bette\u2019s love of the job<\/h2>\n<p><strong>One thing that hasn\u2019t changed is Bette\u2019s love of the job.<\/strong> She said that her career has allowed Bette to share her passion to serve, meet new people and to give kindness to others. <em>\u201cIt\u2019s just been the perfect career path. It\u2019s given my love of people an outlet, and I like to think I\u2019ve given good service to others,\u201d<\/em> she said. <em>\u201cI thoroughly enjoy my three-minute conversations onboard. And I\u2019m often amazed at the interesting work, travels and lives people have.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today, <strong>Bette continues to work full-time and flies her regular route service between Reagan National and Boston Logan airports.<\/strong> Reflecting on 60 years of service, she says that she feels incredibly blessed for her good health and a career that has enabled her to live her dreams and take care of her special needs son.<em> \u201cAs long as I have my health and I\u2019m able, why not work. It\u2019s still fun.
