Their primary aim is to support vulnerable elders : those with little to no income, those who were abandoned by their family, and who live on the streets.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/denmark-cycling-with-the-elderly\/\">Read more :\u00a0Denmark: Cycling with the elderly<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Facebook campaign targeting generation Y and X<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-28510 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/R\u00e9seaux-sociaux-Social-Medias-som.png\" alt=\"Social media som\" width=\"492\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/R\u00e9seaux-sociaux-Social-Medias-som.png 600w, https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/R\u00e9seaux-sociaux-Social-Medias-som-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The association was founded by Mariana Villegas Villaroel and Silver Reyes ; both have a background in marketing and advertising, and put it to good use : one their first actions was to put together a <a title=\"The portion of seniors on Facebook has increased by 80% in 3 years\" href=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/the-portion-of-seniors-on-facebook-has-increasedby-80-in-3-years\/\">Facebook<\/a> campaign targeting <a title=\"How old is old? Ask Millennials.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/how-old-is-old-ask-millennials\/\">generation Y <\/a>and X, from 19 to 24. The campaign was met with a booming success: <strong>250 volunteers<\/strong> responded within the first two months.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cMany of our volunteers had recently lost their grandparents. Young people often tend more toward working with children. Our volunteers found they took to the work well because they hadn&#8217;t had ,children yet, but had a lot of experience looking after their grandparents\u201d, said <strong>M. Reyes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The campaign is not restricted to Facebook: social workers also use WhatsApp to find missing elders. Younger volunteers are a valuable tool: their tech-savviness means they can help older association members on IT-related subjects, such as how to use a computer or how to use technology to access
