But after hearing that <strong>retirement age could be increased up to 67<\/strong>, the Swiss themselves have started to take another view of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Only 23% of surveyees second the notion, while 14% don&#8217;t have an opinion.<\/p>\n<p>The National Council&#8217;s Committee for Social Security and Health voted 13 to 12 for<strong> an automatic increase of retirement age up to two years<\/strong> should the AVS fund not be able to cover 80% of its expenses while no reforms are underway.<\/p>\n<h2>Is delaying retirement\u00a0the answer ?\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28094 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Swiss-flag.jpg\" alt=\"Swiss flag\" width=\"259\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Swiss-flag.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.silvereco.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Swiss-flag-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Measures delaying retirement are unpopular as a rule. In a survey conducted by <strong>Tamedia<\/strong> in June of 2016, 57% of Swiss surveyees said they were opposed to working until age 67.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No demographic group declared themselves predominantly\u00a0in favour of the reform. In France, protests against the 2010 retirement reforms had rallied <strong>three million people<\/strong> ; protesters wished to keep retirement age at 60.<\/p>\n<p><em>When confronted with ageing populations, deciding on a course of action can be difficult : should we increase or decrease retirement age, or are there other solutions?
